ABOUT
This project is an initiative of Hives for Humanity and Homesteader's Emporium; connecting people and pollinators in our community; The PHS Community Service Society and Hastings Urban Farm have provided us with workshop locations and support; West Coast Seeds donated pollinator friendly seeds; BeeDiverse is bringing their educational and academic expertise and has donated educational signage to the project; The Fairmont Waterfront has, through a generous donation made it possible to provide the houses to our partners at no charge. And now we are working with the City of Vancouver Parks Board, VanDusen Gardens and the Environmental Youth Association under the umbrella of the Pollinator Project!
VISION
Our vision is to enhance the corridor of green spaces that already exist along East Hastings, providing forage and habitat for native bee species as well as honey bees. Our goal is not only to support pollinators, but also to strengthen and engage community, connecting non profit organizations local businesses, social enterprises, community gardens, individuals and small neighbourhoods. We aim to create meaningful opportunity for community engagement and ownership, opportunities for leadership in environmental stewardship, and connectivity both to nature and to our neighbours.
